Hagaita-shi is held at Senso-ji Temple (浅草寺) in Tokyo on the 17th, 18th and 19th of December.

Nearly the year, people have already started to prepare for new year.

New year decorations are everywhere at Senso-ji Temple.

東京酉の市 2010

Edo Tegaki Chochin (Hand-painted paper lantern)

'Tori no Ichi Fair' (酉の市) is a famous annual event in November. This event has continued to today since the Edo period. Many people come the 'Ootori Shrine' (大鳥神社/鷲神社) to pray for a health, good fortune and good business by buying a bamboo rake, namely Kumade, with an ear of bunch rice as a charm.

I returned my "kumate" which i got last year for 'osame' (納め).

The characters was drawn on the lantern called Edo letters.
Devised and Crafted in putting lines and balancing, so they are easily read from a distance.

There are many Kumade stores, but also many food stands.

熊手

熊手 (花園神社 酉の市 2010)

Kumade (熊手) is a wide rake that can gather up a large pile of fallen leaves and other garden litter in a single sweep, Kuzari Kumade, a gorgeous ornamental version often handmade by taditional craftsmen, is believed to "rake in" wealth, fortune, business success, and even family saftely. You can obtain Kazari Kumade at Torinoichi (Rooster Fairs,酉の市), held in various places in Tokyo including the Asakusa area in Novermeber.

Venders cry out loud to attract customers and they celebrate with a handclap when a kumade is sold. >>Video

高円寺阿波踊り

阿波舞通常以數十人連成一組在街上跳舞，通常在前方的會踏著2拍子的節奏跳舞，伴奏的人在後方跟隨，樂器基本上有鉦鼓、太鼓、三味線及橫笛等。其中大型的阿波舞節「東京高圓寺阿波舞節」在每年8月最後一個六日舉行。今年我也跟朋友一起去湊熱鬧 。朋友說阿波舞有一古調是這樣唱的：「跳的是笨蛋、不跳的是笨蛋，反正都是笨蛋，不跳就不划算啦！」(えらいやっちゃ、えらいやっちゃ、ヨイヨイヨイヨイ、踊る阿呆に見る阿呆、同じ阿呆なら踊らな損々) 很奇怪吧!

友達と一緒に東京酉の市へ行きました。熊手を買って、うれしかったです。東京酉の市は超すごいね〜〜〜〜にぎやかでした。

I went to a fair with my friend in Tokyo. I'm glad that I bought a kumade.
