This is the first time to chat with the owner of Ōshiroten (大城亭), even though I've been to there several times. This is because I've taken the counter seat which is in front of the kitchen today. Surprisingly he is actually from Okinawa. But what I can have is delicious Italian cuisine. It's always good to have a starter plate and followed by carpaccio, a dish with thinly sliced raw meat or fish. For main course, both pizza and spaghetti are good!
This restaurant is quite tiny which has around 4 tables and several counters seats. The couple runs this Italian restaurant together. It's very interessting to look at the chef cooking while I am eating. Also I enjoy chatting with him as well. No doubt food there is great, otherwise I would not go there for several times. We didn't talk about the dishes, but the decoration there.
There are a pair of lion dolls. He told me actually this is originally from Okinawa and called 'Shisa'. They believe that Shisa would protect them from evils. Traditionally, the closed mouth one keeps good spirits in and open mouth one off evil spirits. That's more or less similar to the lion that the Chinese put in front of entrances or roofs. Also he told me normally the Shisa looks much more scary than this pairs! Really they look adorable indeed.
